Weight loss comes under the topic of Weight Control, because we are concerned with the loss and MAINTENANCE of loss of weight. This is a multi-faceted problem, and a good program involves diet, exercise and stress reduction techniques. Chinese acupuncture, acupressure and digestive aid exercises are also useful tools in the battle with weight loss.
Acupuncture is an adjunct therapy. It is not a panacea or a wonder cure in the treatment of weight control. Acupuncture is effective in making it easier to lose and maintain that loss if the patient is willing to change their lifestyle. Acupuncture needles inserted into specific points on the body and in the ear release endorphins which have a calming and relaxing effect that makes it easier to deal with stress, frustration and anxiety that can trigger overeating and bingeing on fattening foods. Also endorphins affect the digestive and hormonal systems so acupuncture can help rebalance the organ systems that are running too fast- or in this case too slow i.e., the metabolism and the will power.
Acupuncture works for weight loss?
The answer to this question is yes, but does require further explanation. Acupuncture is part of TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine). TCM is based on a framework within which a patient's pattern of disharmony is defined. This pattern discrimination and corresponding treatment is the essence of TCM. While acupuncture works more from the outside in, herbal formulas work from theinside out and the combination of both with other factors maximize the effects for the weight loss treatment.
Our weight loss program differs from other programs, because every weight loss program is prepared after studying the best available options in medicine, TCM, acupuncture, and nutrition. I have done extensive research in nutrition and metabolism in the years of my medical career, followed by my study of acupuncture and TCM. This knowledge enables me to select the best from each field to prepare the most suitable program for each individual; thus, making his or her specific goal easier to achieve.
When preparing an individual plan, I consider a comprehensive treatment which involves a combination of dietary therapy, exercise, herbal medicine and acupuncture. There are also other factors to consider, which are health, physical condition, food likes and dislikes, and the patient's disposition to meet his or her goal. In my practice I 'se acupuncture, herbs, and a balanced diet to help my patients.
I prepare a personalized treatment taking into consideration my patient's particular likes and dislikes. Every program is prepared to fit the specific needs of the patient. Their food preferences are also taken into consideration and this factor helps the patient to feel more comfortable with his or her nutritional plan.
Though no healthy weight loss program is extremely easy to follow, I have found that patients who are firmly determined to lose weight, find harmony and balance, reaching their goals sometimes with little effort or sacrifice. Being that the program is designed to meet the needs of each individual patient, I have found this program has been the most successful in helping patients meet their specific goal and, most importantly, maintain it.
Within the scope of my acupuncture practice, I use acupuncture and other TCM therapies to help you manage your health concerns. Every treatment plan is individualized to address your specific goals. I am a strong believer in complementary medicine and make appropriate referrals to medical doctors when necessary, and work to help my clients minimize or avoid medications whenever possible. It is my goal to help you to successfully manage your health and find balance in your life, and to empower you to take a central role in your health care.
